How to Use Jasper AI?
We’ve broken down Jasper into several sections according to what you will see once you open it. These sections are as follows: Dashboard, Templates, Recipes, Art and Documents.
Dashboard
Within your Dashboard, you will see the latest feature update that was added to Jasper as well as your recent documents. These documents are called the long form editor which we’ll be accessing in the latter part of this article.
Jasper Templates
Jasper’s templates are quite simple to understand and easy to use, as they are trained to perform very specific use cases. These templates allow you to create well-written content quickly with just a few pieces of information and require no prior knowledge or experience.
With more than 50 Jasper templates to choose from, you’re sure to find one that suits your needs. From ad headlines to frameworks, email copies, blog content and so much more.
While Jasper.ai offers a wide range of pre-built templates, you may find that some tweaking is necessary to get the perfect results. Keep in mind that although these templates are very handy, the content that Jasper provides isn’t always perfect.
In some instances, each template or output can be considered merely a starting point, and it is up to you to fine-tune them as needed. However, this cuts back the amount of time needed to come up with copies from scratch. With a little effort, you can maximise the potential of Jasper.ai’s templates and use them to leverage your marketing content.
To learn how to use Jasper’s Templates, follow our steps below:
Step 1: Choose Your Template
Simply select the template that you find will best help you with the copy that you would like to create. In this step, we’ve chosen Email Subject Lines as an example.
Step 2: Add the Information Needed
Add your company or product name, the tone of voice you would want your email subject line to be when your subscribers read it and the context of what your email is about.
Let’s assume the example of an athleisure wear company that has just launched a new line of clothes. We need to add the name of our fictional company which is Athleisure On The Go as well as the tone of voice which would be Excited. Next, we’ll add the details to our email which would be this short sentence: “Launching a new line of athleisure wear”.
Step 3: Add Your Language
Although the language feature is still in beta mode, you can add the language you would like your text (input language) to be translated to. As seen above, the Input language is English and the Output language is French.
Furthermore, you can specify the level of formality of your texts.
Although in this step, we will be sticking to the English language and won’t be translating our text into French, so there won’t be any need for adjusting the level of formality.
Step 4: Add the Number of Outputs
Add the number of outputs (suggestions) that you would like Jasper to produce.
Step 5: Select Your Output
In this step, you will notice how some of the suggestions Jasper will produce aren’t always perfect so select the best output by copy-pasting your chosen text/s and edit these texts on the long form editor.
Based on the image above, the following is what Jasper has produced:
- Get ready to sweat in style!
- New line of athleisure just launched!
- 💥New athleisure line just dropped!
All of the options are great but the first and third email subject headlines sound more exciting.
That’s it! You’ve got yourself a list of email subject lines that you can use. Make sure to take a look at the other templates to learn more about how each of them can help you produce high quality content.
Take note that when working with templates it is important to keep in mind that each template is designed for a specific task. For example, a template designed for product descriptions will be different from a template designed for paid advertisements. But that shouldn’t stop you from using the content improver template for both if you’d like to improve on the wording. As such, it is worth taking the time to find out how these templates will be able to fit your needs.
Jasper Recipes
Jasper Recipes are a great way to create content using a repeatable process. By utilising this feature, you can create your own or save recipes that are shared by the community. Thankfully, Jasper makes it easy to create recipes that include a series of commands to help you get the most out of your content.
But what exactly is a Jasper Recipe?
As stated by Jasper, “Recipes are pre-built workflows that contain a series of Jasper commands to help you create content using a repeatable process. You can create your own or save recipes shared by the community.”
So let’s break this down a bit further.
Jasper commands are instructions that you type on the document in order for Jasper to follow through with what you want it to do. With this, Recipes consist of various commands that make up a workflow of a particular type of copy or content, allowing you to have a repeatable process that you can utilise anytime.
We’ll walk you through how to use Jasper Recipes by using the Cold Email Recipe (which is a Recipe provided by the Jasper community) so follow along with the steps below:
Step 1: Click on the Cold Email Recipe
Navigate to the Recipes section and opt for the Cold Email Recipe option.
Step 2: Click Run
Running the Recipe will open a document containing the commands of your chosen Recipe. Within the document, you’ll have access to edit the commands for that particular Recipe.

Step 3: Add the Information Needed
Starting with the product name we’ll stick with our fictitious brand, Athleisure On The Go.
Our product description will be: “Made from the finest polyester, our Ares collection is one of Australia’s finest athleisure for everyone, where comfort meets performance.”
Step 4: Let Jasper Execute the Commands
Highlight the “Write an AIDA for the product above” and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter (for Windows users) or Command + Shift + Enter for (Mac users) to allow Jasper to execute the instructions.
Take note that, in some instances, you might need to make several changes to what Jasper provides after you let Jasper execute your commands.
For the last command, simply do the same actions once more, highlight the instructions and run it by pressing the right buttons.
Jasper Art
Recently, Jasper released its AI art generator called Jasper Art. We won’t be discussing this feature in full detail in this article, but we’ll give a quick rundown of what it is in this section.

In a nutshell, Jasper Art allows you to create your own art, based on the information that you will provide Jasper, as well as by defining the artistic medium, style and other options. In our Jasper Art article, you will see how impressive Jasper can actually generate several pieces of art based on the inputs you provide.
Documents
The Documents section is where you can create content, particularly long pieces of content such as blog posts. And this is exactly what we’re going to do for the entirety of this section.
We’ll also be going through a comparison of using Jasper commands vs using a template to see how much of a difference Jasper’s outputs actually are.
Additionally, we will also access various templates that go into writing blog posts which include: a blog post outline, blog post titles and even blog post topic ideas.
Do note, however, that in order to create a blog post, you’ll need to use the Jasper boss mode plan so that you can have access to the long form editor which is essential.
Step 1: Click New Document
To start creating a new document, click New document.
When you open your document you will see a blank area where you will be writing your content and a section with fields where you can add details according to the blog post you are writing about. But we’ll be explaining this later on.
For now, we’ll explore the three tabs located on the top which are:
Focus Mode
Focus Mode is the main document you are in.
Power Mode
Power Mode is where you will have access to all of the templates that we’ve mentioned earlier.
SEO Mode
SEO Mode is where you can access SurferSEO if you have it connected. We won’t be discussing how to use SurferSEO here but we will publish an article soon. So stay tuned!
Step 2: Open the Power Mode Tab
Open the Power Mode tab to view all of the writing features/templates that Jasper offers.
Step 3: Select Your Template: Blog Post Topic Idea
In this step, we’ve chosen Blog Post Topic Idea to help us come up with what we should start writing about. After all, if we don’t know what topic to write about, how can we start writing?
We’ll first need to add the company name, so let’s assume a dog food company for large dog breeds named Food for the Giants.
Next, add a product description to describe the services we provide which is: “Selling premium-quality dog food for large dog breeds”. The audience we’ve added is large dog breed owners and the tone of voice is Fun.
With the image above, the most ideal choices would be the first one and probably the second one because they both represent what we want our target readers to be highly interested in. Plus, the two are quite specific to make a blog post about. But we’ll choose the second topic and paste it on the document.
Here’s a tip, you can use the given suggestions as blog post titles for future articles.
Step 3: Select Your Template: Blog Post Outline
To create an outline for the blog, open the Blog Post Outline template and add the blog post title/topic and tone of voice. As seen above, the tone of voice we’ve chosen is Informative and the title is The Benefits of Premium Dog Food for Large Breeds.
With the options Jasper has given, we’ve chosen the first.
Step 4: Add Your Blog Post Outline and Title
This is a self-explanatory step, you can add your blog post outline from the previous steps as well as your blog post title to the document.
Step 5: Command Jasper to Write
Starting with the introduction which can be done in two ways: using the Blog Post Intro Paragraph or directly commanding Jasper to write an introduction on the document.
Below is an example of what Jasper has provided. If you take a look at the two you can decide which one is better, however, we prefer the introduction from commanding Jasper to write an introduction.
To let Jasper execute your command, simply highlight the instruction and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter on Windows or Command + Shift + Enter on Apple.
Step 6: Add Paragraphs for Each Point on Your Outline
To do this, you can switch between writing a command, using the content brief section or opening another tab on your browser to access Jasper’s Templates.
If in case you’ve asked Jasper to execute your command and Jasper did not complete a full sentence or paragraph, simply press Ctrl + J or Command + J on where your text ended without highlighting any word and it will continue the paragraph or sentence based on the command you have given.
So how do you write content using the content brief section?
Start off by adding our blog post title to its appropriate field.
Next, add a brief description of your blog post or a brief description of a paragraph you would like to write about in the content description/brief section.
Add your tone of voice as well as keywords that you would like your blog to have.
Lastly, add your output length which is essentially the length of text that you would like Jasper to produce. You can choose S for Short, M for Medium and L for Long. We recommend sticking to S or M as we find that these two options produce the best bodies of text.
Step 7: Add Your Own Information
Even though Jasper is able to write blog posts, remember, Jasper is an ai writing assistant.
This means that although Jasper is capable of writing blog posts and other written content, it is still an ai writing assistant. So you’ll need to add your own information, verify the credibility of what is being written by Jasper and ensure that what Jasper is producing for you, actually makes sense and is going in a certain direction that is in line with what you are writing about.
Jasper will definitely help you start writing but you’ll need to add your own insights and make the right judgement calls throughout the entire process.
Let’s put this into perspective.

Step 8: Add Your Headings
With headings, you can add the following which can be seen in the upper part of the document:
- H1
- H2
- H3
- H4
Step 9: Switch Up Your Commands
In the image above, the command we used is “List down the benefits of feeding your dog a premium diet” and Jasper listed down several benefits of a premium dog diet.
It is highly recommended to use a mix of Templates, commands and the content brief section. And if you would like to re-phrase a particular sentence, simply click the diamonds button on the upper right side of the document.
Step 10: Add Images to Your Blog
To add images to your document, click on the Image button located at the top. Do note that when adding images on Jasper, it will always be a little grainy and lower in resolution regardless of how high-res your images are.
Step 11: Add a Link
Simply click on the button that looks like a chain, right beside the image button.
Step 12: Add a Conclusion
There are two ways in which you can add a conclusion. Either by using the Blog Post Conclusion Paragraph or by running the command “Write a conclusion paragraph”.
There you have it! A complete blog post from scratch that was made entirely with the help of Jasper and its features.
